This is site-specific furniture designed for a long-used, though poorly appointed, meeting room in a school of architecture. The project registers the accumulated activities, equipment, and labor within that room and responds to it all as infrastructure necessary for the development of architectural ideas. Those patterns of use inform a bespoke material response where surface and structure, volume and void, instrument and infrastructure fold into one another, forming a multifaceted tableau. This differentiated field is sliced into 144 digital contours that are CNC-fabricated and manually laminated together in sequence. Each section cut simultaneously functions as a drawing, a material layer, a structural component, and a record of one moment in the form’s overall transformation. The resulting stratified hull retains the traces of its construction, transforming the logic of assembly into an architectural instrument for collaborative design practice.
